The West Kalimantan Museum was inaugurated on April 2, 1988 by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Culture. The management of the museum is held by the Provincial Government of West Kalimantan through the Department of Education and Culture.
The West Kalimantan Museum holds various historical objects from several tribal civilizations in West Kalimantan, namely: Malay, Dayak, and Chinese. Museum collections ranging from artifacts, royal objects, art and culture of Dayak tribe, Chinese ceramics, to the replica of Dayak and Malay marriage. The West Kalimantan Museum is located at Jend. Ahmad Yani Street, South Pontianak. It’s free entry. Opening hour is 8 am – 2 pm. The museum is closed on Monday.
